Dave Barnes
Dave has lived in Cannon Hill all his life. He was born in St Helier hospital, and went to Hillcross Primary School. He spent all his working life in public service, much of it working in Whitehall departments dealing with a range of government policies including energy and the environment.
He is now retired and wants to devote more time to working in the Cannon Hill community. He is a great advocate for the area. Over many years he has enjoyed access to great open spaces and leisure facilities, good schools, a well planned and pleasant environment to live in, with excellent transport links. He wants residents old and new to enjoy Cannon Hill at its best.
Ryan Barnett
Ryan grew up in Cannon Hill, as part of three generations of his family to attend Joseph Hood Primary school.
An economist, he has experience working on policy relating to small businesses, Brexit, transport and the environment. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ryan campaigned for financial support for the self-employed and advised the public on how to support their incomes.
This is the second time Ryan has stood to represent the area he calls home, having stood previously in a local by-election in 2019.
Recently, Ryan has volunteered for Wimbledon Food Bank, Dons Local Action and called on our MP to support the Universal Credit Uplift.
He is incredibly concerned by the rise in the cost of living, especially energy bills and the changes to prescription charges for the over 60s.
Councillor Pauline Cowper
Pauline has been a Cannon Hill Councillor since 2014. An ex civil servant, Pauline has lived in Merton most of her life and cares deeply about the local area she has served for eight years.
During this time, she has also been a governor at Hillside Primary school. Pauline is currently a Member of Ward Panel (Police) due to commence its Speedwatching program soon on Cannon Hill Lane. She has worked hard to help local residents with their issues, highlighting the need for more road safety and the issue of residential flooding.
Most recently, Pauling has secured investment in the community garden beside Martin Way Methodist church.
