There are 1.5 million people with a learning disability in the UK. Austerity cuts have affected every aspect of their lives. Generic policies and squeezed practices fail to address their specific needs. Consequently they are rendered more and more invisible, isolated and voiceless.
With their families and friends they represent a large chunk of the voting population. Most do not vote Labour.
Our project A Few of the Many aims to connect with our local learning disabled community but also to give them both voice and visibility at the next Labour Conference in Brighton.
Amongst other things we have commissioned a play devised by actors with learning disability from the Baked Bean Company. We will take this to the Labour Party Annual Conference in Brighton and are raising funds to make this possible.
Today we launched our crowdfunder appeal to raise the necessary £3,500. Please help us by donating and publicising!
