Andy Copeland - Abbey Labour Candidate

Andy Copeland

Abbey Labour Candidate

Andy Copeland is delighted to stand as the Labour candidate for Abbey ward. Having lived in the area for the past eight years, he has grown deeply connected to both the neighbourhood and its community.

Raised in a small pastoral village, Andy grew up with the values of community, charity and fairness—principles he continues to uphold. After leaving home at 18 to study at the University of Huddersfield, he moved to London to build his career and now works as a Technical Operations Manager for a studio specialising in sound for Film, TV and Video Games. His role has shaped him into a skilled problem solver and a strong, diplomatic communicator—qualities he hopes to bring to the role of councillor.

A Labour member since 2014, Andy has campaigned for many outstanding candidates at both local and national level. He has seen first-hand the positive work delivered by Labour-led Merton Council, and he is eager for the chance to contribute to that progress.

In his spare time, Andy can often be found running around the borough (he is currently training for the London Marathon), enjoying a pint in local pubs, or reading about history—an interest well suited to a borough as historic as Merton.

After many years of moving around, Andy is proud to call Merton home. If elected, he will work hard to make the area even fairer, greener and more compassionate for all.
