Londoners did the right thing during the Covid-19 crisis by staying at home. But because people aren’t travelling, TfL’s fares income has fallen by more than 90%.

Rather than thanking Londoners for doing the right thing, the Tory Government is punishing us. They are hiking fares, taking away free travel for under 18s and increasing the scope and level of the congestion charge.

And all this is just a sticking plaster – TfL will need more financial support by October.

Public transport in London needs more investment, not more Tory cuts. This is not the recovery London needs. And it’s not the way other regions in the UK have been treated.

  • We need to invest in public services to help Londoners when they need it most.
  • We need to invest in public transport so that people can get to and from work safely while maintaining social distancing.
  • And we need to invest to deliver the cleaner, greener and fairer city that Londoners desperately need and want.

Sign the petition now, and let’s call on the Tory Government to get their hands off public transport in London and give us the funding we need – without punishing Londoners for doing the right thing on Covid-19.
