Following Labour’s outstanding local election result in Merton, Wimbledon Labour was delighted to welcome Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy to AFC Wimbledon, located in Wandle ward.
Labour not only held Merton Council, but increased its majority – with one of the gains coming right here in Wimbledon, where Sebastian Budner was elected alongside the incumbent Eleanor Stringer in Wandle ward. The result made Wandle an entirely Labour ward for the first time, with Labour securing a combined vote share of 41.7%.
Sir Keir thanked local campaigners and volunteers for their hard work in securing a Labour victory for the community and helping deliver another strong result for residents across Merton.
